Ich wollte mich bei all meinen Freunden bedanken, die mir total nette Emails geschrieben haben. Leider weiss ich echt nicht, wann ich antworten kann, aber Ihr müsst wissen, dass ich mich extrem gefreut habe, und dass ich an euch alle denke. So bald ich dazu komme, werde ich zurückschreiben. Versprochen!

Salut tout le monde!
Voilà maintenant une semaine que nous sommes arrivés en Nouvelle-Zélande. Nous avons passé 3 jours à Auckland à planifier en gros le temps ici et à regarder la ville. Nous sommes allés au musée sur les Maoris, l‘histoire du pays, la faune et la flore. Très intéressant.
Nous avons loué une voiture pour les 2 mois que nous allons passer ici et nous avons décidé de mettre le cap au Nord Est. La Nouvelle-Zélande semble petite, mais ce n‘est pas le cas surtout quand on emprunte les routes sinueuses longeant la côte. Notre première étape nous fit connaître Tapu, près de Thames où on est resté dans un camping. Comme on n‘a pas de tente, on avait loué une mini-„cabine“ avec 2 lits à l‘intérieur, pas de place pour plus. Le jour suivant, on a continué vers Whitianga. Le backpackers étant fermé, c‘est dans une famille néo-zélandaise très chaleureuse que nous avons passé la nuit. On a beaucoup discuté et elle nous a donné de précieux conseils pour la suite de notre voyage. Maintenant, nous savons exactement ce que nous ne devons pas manquer. Puis, on a suivi la côte jusque Te Araroa, à l‘extrême est de la Nouvelle-Zélande. On a passé le réveillon avec des Américains et des Kiwis sur la plage autour d‘un feu de camp. A 3.30, on a pris la voiture pour se rendre à l‘Easten Cape afin d‘observer le lever du soleil, le premier de l‘année dans le monde entier. Malheureusement, le ciel était nuageux, mais le symbole était déjà une vraie sensation!
Peu importe où nous roulons, le paysage est magnifique. La Californie était une variation de bleus, la Nouvelle-Zélande est une variation de verts. On y trouve le vert des plantes, des arbres, des feuilles, des champs et bien sûr celui de la mer. Vraiment superbe.
Nos premières impressions de la Nouvelle-Zélande sont bonnes, mais il y a tout de même 2 petites choses négatives: d‘une part, l‘accès à internet est compliqué et sinon très cher, de l‘autre, la vie en général n‘est pas bon marché du tout et on a intérêt à faire attention si l' on ne veut pas rentrer de notre voyage plus tôt que prévu!

Hallo!
Jetzt ist es schon eine Woche her, dass wir in Neuseeland gelandet sind. Drei Tage sind wir in Auckland geblieben, wo wir die Zeit dort grob geplant und die Stadt angeschaut haben. Wir waren auch im Museum über die Maoris, die Landesgeschichte, die Flora und Fauna. Sehr interessant!
Wir haben ein Auto für die 2 Monate gemietet, die wir hier verbringen werden und haben beschlossen, uns Richtung Osten zu begeben. Neuseeland scheint klein, ist es aber gar nicht, vor allem wenn man die kleinen gewundenen Strassen entlang der Küste benutzt. Unsere erste Etappe liess uns in Tapu, bei Thames, in der Kabine eines Campingplatzes. Zwei Betten innen, keinen Platz für mehr!! Am nächsten Tag sind wir bis Whitianga weitergefahren. Der Backpackers war überbucht, so haben wir bei einer sehr netten warmherzigen Familie übernachtet, die uns viele Tipps für unsere Weiterreise gegeben hat. Jetzt wissen wir genau, wohin wir gehen sollten. Wir sind dann weiter an der Ostküste bis Te Araroa gefahren, wo wir uns für 2 Tage niedergelassen haben. Wir haben dort Sylvester mit Amerikanern und Kiwis am Strand um einem Lagerfeier gefeiert. Um 3.30 sind wir ins Auto gestiegen und bis zum Easten Cape gefahren. Dann hatten wir noch 25 Minuten zum Laufen bis zum Lichthaus, wo wir auf den Sonnenaufgang gewartet haben, den ersten der Welt. Leider war der Himmel bewölkt aber es war symbolisch ein tolles Gefühl!
Heute ging es weiter nach Gisborne. Mal sehen, ob wir morgen schon die Reise fortsetzen oder ob wir einen Tag länger bleiben. Auf jeden Fall, egal wo wir sind, ist die Landschaft einmalig. Die Farben Kalifornien variierten zwischen verschiedenen Blautönen. Die Neuseelands sind eine Grünvariation. Es gibt das Grün der Pflanzen, der Bäume, der Blätter, der Felder und natürlich das des Meeres. Wirklich genial.
Unsere ersten Eindrücke Neuseelands sind also ganz gut bis auf zwei kleine Sachen: Internet Zugang ist schwierig und wenn, ist es sehr teuer. Zweitens ist das Leben allgemein nicht billig und wir werden richtig bescheiden leben müssen, wenn wir nicht früher nach Hause gehen wollen!

Hello there!
We already arrived one week ago in New Zealand. We spent 3 days in Auckland to plane a little the trip and to see the town. We have been also in a museum about the Maoris, the history of New Zealand and the faun and flora. Very interesting.
We rent a car for the 2 months we will stay here and we decided to drive to the North East. New Zealand seems small but it‘s not! Especially when the roads are flexuous and go along the coast. So we stayed in Tapu, near from Thames, in a cabin in a camping ground. It was funny: 2 beds inside, no place for more!! On the next day we continued until Whitianga. The backpackers was overbooked and we found a very warm-hearted family to spend the night. They told us many things about New Zealand and I think, now we exactly know where we should go. On the next day we went ahead direction East. Wherever we are the landscape is very beautiful and the colors are a green variation. California was a blue variation and here it‘s a green variation: There are the green of the grass, the green of the trees, the green of the plants, the green of the sheets and the green of the sea. Very nice!
Finally we arrived in Te Araroa, near from the most Easten point of New Zealand where we spent New Year. We celebrated with American/Kiwi people we met, we went to the beach and stayed together around a fire. At 3.30 we drove to the Easten cape, walked 25 minutes to the lighthouse and we waited for the sunrise, the first sunrise in the world. Unfortunately the weather was cloudy but the feeling and the symbol were gorgeous. Now we are in Gisborne. We will see if we leave tomorrow or if we‘re going to stay longer. The only thing we know is we want to go ahead to the North.
Our first impressions of New Zealand are good. However two things are negative: first it‘s very expensive, secondly it‘s not as easy as in the USA to receive Internet… Here you have to pay and it‘s not cheap… If we don‘t live modestly, we‘ll have to go home earlier!

You have to imagine Mana like a tropical island, where there is only sand, transparent sea and palm trees. Many TV shows like „the survivors“ or even the movie
„Cast away“ have been created there. It‘s incredibly beautiful, and all the people we met there, OB Fijian or foreigners were, once more, gorgeous.
After 2 days we went to another island to spend Christmas. The name was Bekana which is exactly in front of the big city Lautoka. So we could go on 11pm to church. We went with the boss of the hotel and also with other people who work there. To be honest it was a little boring. The atmosphere was pious, but it missed happiness. However it was very interesting.
Now we fly to New-Zealand and I‘m very curious to see what we will live there.
For your information we will have 12 hours more than in the west of Europe…

2) How many people live there?
less than one million.
3) What is the origins of the most of the people here?
There are Indian and Fujian people. There are sometimes some problems but not in the West side.
4) What is the main religions here?
Here there are Christians (Methodist and Catholics), Hindi, and a few Moslems.
5) What is the main occupation of the people?
People live from the tourism and the agriculture.
6) Which languages do the people speak?
Fijian, Indian languages and English. There are 52 different dialects in the Fijian language which we could understand more or less.
7) How old are the children when they start to learn English?
They are 5-6 years. At school the children have to speak English.
8) What is Fiji famous for?
For rugby, diving (Fiji is in the top ten in the world for diving), soft corals and holiday.
